Question 2003 1500 headlight problem

Hey everyone just joined this to see if anyone could help me with a problem I have. I just bought an 03 1500 and a fews days after, both headlights would not turn on. Now I can only use the high beams. I'm figuring this must be some sort of electronical problem, can anyone help me fix this?

Re: 2003 1500 headlight problem

You said that both headlights would not turn on , do you mean both the high and the low beams or just both low beam bulbs? If you meant both low beam blubs , i would say for a cheap easy check , pick up a new bulb and swap it out. It IS possible that both low beams burnt out at the same time, i have seen it happen once myself. Or if you have a digital multi meter you can check to see if you are getting power to the sockets for the low beams.

yea i meant to say both low beams. i always have them on AUTO and on the day it happened they worked fine in the morning and at night the AUTO showed only high beams. I do have a multimeter but I dont know how to get into where the wiring is as I've only played around in older trucks

Re: 2003 1500 headlight problem

I think the 03's headlight's should be the same as my 2000. Open the hood and look at the top of the headlight assembly , you will see two pins approx "1/4 in diameter and they are bent 90 degrees at the top and are clipped in. Simply unclip these pins and pull them upwards to remove them and the headlight assembly will then come out forwards, disconnect the wire plug for the low beam bulb and with the headlights on and on low , test at the plug or plug the new bulb onto the plug.
