Exclamation HUGE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH MY 01 Galant! PLEASE HELP!

OH man i think I screwed over my 01 galant. if you can help me on the following situation, here's the info about my car: 2001, ES V6, dome light, everything else is standard.

OK, I went to go put a new light in my trunk, and I popped it in, and nothing happened, the light didn't come on, nothing. So I proceeded to the front of the car, and what else isn't working: stereo head unit, power door locks, remote to lock and unlock doors, dome light will NOT come on no matter what, and my headlights won't turn on (unless key is in egnition and turned on), and the little chime to let you know your key is in the ignition won't go. And here's what else happens; when the key is in the ignition and is turned on but right before starting the engine, the door locks will work, and my head lights will work, but the dome light still won't work and the trunk light still won't work. I tried putting back in the old light and it won't work. I have taken a voltmeter and am not getting ANYTHING on the line. It displays "0.00" the entire time, no electricity whatsoever going through the line. The light I was putting in was 12V 15W. Now, the power outlet in the car still works, and everything else seems to work, but I have absolutely NO power going to the units I specified above. If you can help me resolve this issue that would be great! MANY MANY THANKS TO WHO HELPS ME!

Re: HUGE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH MY 01 Galant! PLEASE HELP!

My 01 Galant is doing the same exact thing now also. Its an ES. The guy i bought it off of had some POS alarm system in it that didnt even work, so i took it out, and now my galant does the same thing as described in the previous post. I hope its just a fuse because i did find a lot of blown fuses, but i dont have fuses yet because i havnt had a chance to go buy some. if anyone knows for sure what it is PLEASE HELP! Thanks

HEY, i found out the problem, i was accidentally allowing the + and - wires to touch, therefore blowing the fuse, but after i got the lights mounted and the new fuse in, it all worked GREAT!

OK, the fuse that blows is #1 fuse in the engine compartment fuse box. Take that fuse out and install the new lights, then put the new fuse in and it should work. If after you replace the fuse it blows it again, check the wiring and if it's correct, take out the lights, they may be too much for the one system. I used neon lights that were made to go into a computer. They are 12" each, but thin, so they don't require much power, but light up really bright. lemme check my PMs to get back to you on this.
