Question Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor

Ok, trying to help out my mom with her truck, has a 2000 S10 Blazer. The engine light kept coming on and off for sometime.. she took it to a mechanic and they werent able to help her with it. Said it was something else and when she took it to the dealer for some other warranty work, they check it out and said it was the " Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor" that needed to be replaced. And since that was not covered under her extended warranty, it was going to cost $170 to replace it.

So my question is it worth paying that?
and
Can that part be found at AutoZone or some other autopart store?

And where is located on a 2000 S10 Blazer? Where can i find that sensor?

Re: Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor

The fuel tank pressure sensor is on top of the fuel tank. The tank will have to lowered to access.

About the price, I see that NAPA parts sells the sensor for $33, didn't see it at Autozone. Is it worth it to you to do it for $137? It depends if you have a place to do it and if you feel confortable doing it. If you do, start with an empty fuel tank and be careful not to break the fuel lines. Myself, for that cost, I don't know if I would want to do that on the ground without a lift.

Go and get the codes scanned at autozone for free instead of taking the idiot mechanics "I can't do anything about it" story.

The codes will tell you what the problem is.
