rough ride

I have a 93 park ave.I have owned it since new and love it.Car has every option.
I have replaced front struts and rear shocks{gts suspension}The car handles much better and is firm again on the highway however when i hit potholes or small bumps the suspension hits hard in both front and rear .Doesn't seem to have the ability to dampen sudden impacts.
Also two strange things 1}if I put the car in gear before the warning lights go off after starting the horn sounds 2}sometimes the trunk also opens.Makes me laugh but drives my wife crazy.
Thanks

Re: rough ride

2} Sounds like a problem with your trunk lock. Maybe you have to readjust the trunk opener.

Re: rough ride

If your horn sounds the same as if you were using your remote,it just may be something in you security system, which also has your trunk release.

Re: rough ride

auto trainy you could be onto something .where is the control unit for the security unit located .thanks

Re: rough ride

Do you have a remote control for your trunk release?

You may wanna check the Remote Accessory Control (RAC) Module. This module controls all the things that are acting weird in your car. On the 94 PA, it is located at the passenger side of the dashboard, below (behind) the glove box where the relay center and the PCM are.

To the rough ride: I experience the same thing, but the shocks on my car are not new. Please post if you find a solution. I considered using standard non-GTS struts/shocks to soften the ride but I'm not sure if this is gonna work. I'm also not sure if it's just the struts that are different with GTS, I guess the springs might be different also. Maybe someone has more information, please post, I'd really appreciate it.

Re: rough ride

from what i've heard, it's not the same springs in the back for the GTS and the normal suspension. just like the dynaride suspension, which i have, the shocks are soft ALOT.. that why it relies on the air shocks to support a bit of the weight...and the air shocks are 900 $ cdn at the dealer.. but i found that a shop that sells equivalent for 30$ more than a normal shock..

your best bet is getting the GTA springs as well.. the reason the car is great on the highway might be because of the sway bars if you have any... the dynaride suspension has some bigs ones as well as a strut bar under the hood.

hows the cornering?

I have the grand touring suspension .The highway ride and the cornering for the big beast is close to what it was as new.only has 120,000 miles. The problem I am trying to figure out is that after replaceing shocks and struts the ride came back but when hitting potholes or sharp raises in the road not dips, the suspension seems to almost be loose and hits hard????Thats the best I can explain it .Just doesn't have the ability to absorb the impact.????

Re: rough ride

I had the same trunk/horn gremlins and a new RAC module solved them, as a couple guys have mentioned.

As for the suspension, check your tire pressure and only put the Buick mfr max on the door/trunk placard (30/32 psi?) and be sure you are using a quality guage. Next, I'd have to ask what kind of shocks did you put on your car? I have had extremely good luck with Monroe Sensa-Tracs because they are smooth when you want them to be, but they have pretty good control over dips and humps -- better than factory Delco units or whatever.
