Eh......... I've recently taken my car into the dealer (yes the dealer) to get my idle reset to spec at 800 rpm.
Before, the car was really boggy at start, but wouldn't drop idle whenever i was going around and shifted to neutral. Say, when pulling up to a light, stomp on clutch, take out of gear, and press brake...... the idle would slowly go back to 900rpm or so. Though not set correctly, the falling idle wouldn't stall the car. The dealership reset the idle "correctly" to 800 rpm, and now my car stalls if i don't tap the gas to keep RPM's up. I shift to neutral while rolling to a stop light, then the car either drops RPM's to 200 or so..... or stalls out. I have to now tap the gas to slow the RPM drop and have it catch itself at 800. This is getting to be a pain in the @$$, especially while stalling on feeder roads going 50 and having to start the car ![]() HELP! What should i do? .... Just adjusting the screw on the AAC valve to raise RPMs will take my idle off spec though... -Phil |

I'm afraid I'm not of much help but I can tell you that my Sentra did a very similar thing for about 2 months a year ago. What made it stop? I don't know. It just did. Every time I would put in the clutch it would drop like an anvil, and often die, which is a huge problem if you plan on steering. If I put it in Neutral it would be fine, and the idle would be at a totally wrong speed on startup (like 2500 rpms for example) but if I tapped the gas VERY lightly they would drop. I'm guessing O2 sensor? Or something?

oddly enough my car is also doing this, but i dont know if any of u, but i got an ECU error message. (check engine light). i checked the code and it was the IACV (idle air control valve) which has something to do with holding an idle when the car is cold. it bypass's air into the TB insted of it pulling it in or something, not exactually sure. i cleared the message and reset the ecu. every once in a while my idle will go to crap and ill almost stall. im getting a OBDII datalogger soon so ill be able to see exactually whats going on. ill keep you informed.

Gee..... Uh.....
AznVirus, i just read your post and went out to check my car's "intake bypass valve type thing"....... that one that leads to the side of the cam-cover from the intake tube. WELL SHIT. There happens to be (about 4 inch long) steel wire cleaner (you know, the wire cleaners you jam down places to clean) stuck in there. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT DOING IN THERE!..... Probably infiniti broke it off and left it in there..... tommorrow im gonna go yell at em. ..... Idle is still )@(#$*)@# though, but not as bad with the wire cleaner taken out...... @#)($*@# -Phil |

Only way to clean AAC valve is to take the damn thing off and scrub like you've never scrubbed before. Lots of carbon junk on mine.
Anywho, the problem is: a totally closed and clogged EGR valve. Looks like George was right after all - *bows down and kisses feet.... blech*For all of those having this problem, check the EGR valve and tube, make sure those things aren't clogged! And maybe the BPT ... -Phil |

where is the Aiv valve located? So how hard is it to clean?

AAC valve located opposite (on the Throttlebody) the throttleplate. It has a little screw on the top. DO NOT ADJUST the screw! It'll change RPM levels and screw up idle. Then u gotta go in and adjust the TPS... pain in the a$$.
Anywho, just an update on my problem (George? Blah) -EGR Valve and Tube both clogged. Valve stopped working (Dead). -O2 sensor (new one... 4 month ago) seems to be dead. Probably never worked. POS www.carparts.com. Never order from there. -Infiniti (West Houston) says theses are problems with idle and the car running RICH ... even after EGR and O2 change and resetting idle (aac and tps) - the ECU has gone to shit supposedly. They want 1000. Yea right.... But, this would point out why the car is running rich. The ECU has gone to the default program, givng me only 20mpg ALWAYS. (ACK!) - Lots of other little problems...... supposedly. I'll get back later! -Phil |
