Try to pick a time when it hasnt been driven for literally hours. I did mine about an hour or 2 after driving my car and they made more noise then before i did it.

Re: Should I adjust valves cold or hot?
i would say just do it when they get noisy. if it ain't broke don't fix it right?
I am just going to do it when I wake up in the morning someday, when it's completely cold. Now my exhaust is comming loose so I've got nasty noises comming from everywhere in my car I hate it! |

Re: Should I adjust valves cold or hot?
well I found out why they were making noise!
I went to stick my feeler guage in to adjust one on the intake side, and about fell into the engine bay 'cause there was such a big gap. I went to loosen the nut and it was already loose, it was pretty much just flopping around in there. Now it purr's like it used to!(and lets me keep up with s2000's) |

Re: Should I adjust valves cold or hot?
how could you go through doing all your valves, then realize just now you were doing it wrong?

Re: Should I adjust valves cold or hot?
the actually lashing was done right, but the feeler gauge that was used was wrong. under the hood, it says .20 and .25. i talked to my mechanic and he said thats really thin, so i just used a SAE feeler and lashed them to .020" and .025", so its about .01" too much slack. luckily i havent been driving that car around so i guess its fine, i just gotta go back and redo everything. the lashing was done a few months ago.
