Lightbulb Diff Lock or LSD on '99 2wd LS???

I have a '99 Isuzu Rodeo LS, I was hoping you guys can help me out.

I want this SUV to pull from both wheels in the back. Reason being is that I'm in a bet with my friend to see who can make their Rodeo the fastest, and I want the most traction off of the line. Now, is it possible to swap out the complete rear end or would i have problems with the driveshaft?

Is there a diff lock that i can mate to my diff or not?

Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Diff Lock or LSD on '99 2wd LS???

I think if you want to make you truck faster, you are going to want a lot more then a locked up diffy.

how about a super charger?
http://www.azwildfire.com/isuzu/supercharger.htm

link to a Rodeo forsale with a super charger (51K, 1998) for 6500.00

Looks like a deal!

An already superchargered Rodeo would be nice(and thats a pretty good price), but i was actually thinking of doing all the work myself. The locked up diff is just my starting point.

The motor i will get into after i finish tranny and suspension. Is that a s/c kit they sell, or is that custom work?

No doubt a SC is the only way to go for max hp! Robert28, you may already have a limited slip (posi) rear end in your rodeo. If your option code tag on the firewall lists a "G80" code, you have a dana posi rear end diff.

I was under the impression that it pertained to the 4wd rodeos only, when i get home i will take a look. But, i doubt that it does just by the way it drives.

If you are 2wd, you won't have Limited slip.

The SC is a bolt-on kit (cost about 3k).

here is a locker:

If you want to be quick, reduce your wight (loose the seats, door panels, spair tire and so on).

what is your plan for tranny mods?

Thanks for the link on the s/c. i have already removed everything from the truck except for the dash, and had custom brackets made for some bucket racing seats...they weigh 10 pounds a piece.

As for the tranny, i havent started my research on any available products or cross referencing part numbers, but my plan is to install a different stall and then worry about reinforcing it when it gives out.

NO2? I'm sure the engine could take a 50-75 hit, but the weakest link is the tranny.

I think the 2005 Rodeo, has a non-GM tranny (toyota maybe?).
good link same basic engine:

The firewall is the divider between the engine compartment and the cabin of the vehicle.

Standing in front of the vehicle with the hood open looking toward the engine, you should see the options tag somewhere on said firewall, right below the windshield. On mine, it's on the driver side, but look all the way across.

The code you will look for is G80.
