My 96' Camry has the ABS light remained on stationary for almost a year. I am aware that there might be a bad ABS sensor, but how do I find out which one is bad??? About a year ago - the ABS light was on & off ocassionally and then it remained on constant. I tried to do the self diagostic test by jumping the the TE1 & E1 terminal with a wire/paper clip as instructed in the repair manual, but the "check engine" light did not blink as it suppose to. My car is due for a NJ State Emission test by end of March 2005 and they will hook up to my car's diagnostic to check if there is any problem code(s) in the computer. Anyone knows how to find/check the ABS sensor(s) on this car - please give some advise?

How do you know it's a bad sensor? The ABS may be defective, which would be dangerous. Get it checked.

Re: ABS Light on dashboard...how to turn off?
Thanks...lenjack for your reply. Well...I have a feeling that it might be a bad sensor. Back then, the ABS light was on & off ocassionally and then it remained on constant. I was trying to do the self diagnostic test to see if I can retrieve any problem code that might point to the ABS problem, but that didn't work out. I jumped the terminals TE1 & E1 with a paper clip/piece of wire to look at the "engine" light blink and it didn't do anything. Do you have any advise as to how to find out what the problem is with ABS? Or I need to bring it to the mechanic and have them hook up the diagnostic computer to find out what the problem is with the ABS?
Thanks... Tim |
