1999 Grand Cherokee No oil pressure

Hi,

My oil pressure gage is dropping to zero after the engine warms up and the check gage light comes on oil pressure will climb up when the engine is reved up. Checked the oil and it is fine and I do not hear any strange noises. I have a 1999 Grand Cherokee with the 4.7. Could it just be the oil sensor unit?

Could be the sensor but you really should have someone check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge to make sure.

What oil are you using??

How long since you changed it??

Do you do a lot of short trips??

Just looking for other possibilities......

had teh esact same problem with mine. I replace the sensor myself (i think it was a 22mm deep socket, but not 100% sure on the size) and it corrected the problem. I would say that it is most likely your problem, but best not to dirve it until you find out for sure

Thanks for everyone's help. I took it into the garage and they checked it with a mechnical gauge and found everything OK so they replaced they sensor/switch and now everything is great.
