Thinking about getting an eclipse

hey, i've been thinking about getting an eclipse for a while now and figured i would ask this here before i started to test drive and crunch numbers. are there any known models that i should probably stay away from. i'm leaning towards a 01 or 02 gt. i wanted a spyder, but i think they would be too much, so i'll settle for a gt with a moonroof. ;-) .
thanks in advance and please feel free to leave any other information that may help me in figuring out what to buy.

Re: Thinking about getting an eclipse

The 3G Eclipse is perfect if you want a slow good looking car. Depending on what you will be using this car for it can be a great car, or a POS. Give us some more info on what its main purpose will be.

Re: Thinking about getting an eclipse

well you know, i want a car i make look good (wheels, maybe body kit, maybe some tv's or something) just show off look good stuff, but i also want a car i can tune a little and make it go when i hit the gas. i'm not lookin for a 9 second car or anything. i was more looking along hte lines of mechanical or electrical problems with the 3rd generation eclipses, thanks

Re: Thinking about getting an eclipse

well then defintely get a 2g GSX, because the 3g's are a little rough to tune and make go, a GSX will give you good response wet or dry, they look awesome (IMO) stock 17's and as long as it doesn't look like the fast and the furious, i think you could make it an awesome car... however pulling the backseat in favor of a sound system would be a better venture than leaving it back there

Re: Thinking about getting an eclipse

Man look at the 2 door stratus. The 3G eclipse and the stratus share so many lines. Looking at them side by side its hard to tell the difference. But after all it is our sister car.

Re: Thinking about getting an eclipse

i would suggest the 1997 Eclipse GSX because the insurance (from what i've heard) is a good deal cheaper on it than on the 1998
and my neighbor pulled a 1998 w/ 20k miles on it last year so there are some out there, you just have to take your time finding them because it definitely won't be easy or necessarily cheap

Re: Thinking about getting an eclipse

best bet would be a 1G gsx. cheap, freakin fast, and loads of aftermarket parts. the styling is bit iffy tough, but with the money you saved over a '97 2G, you can get performance parts or your stereo and tv's, which in my opinion (which doesnt matter) is useless. "bling" is for for dudes that have no game. they cant talk to chicks, so they put tv's and 20 inch rims on thier cars to get attention. and another thing- altezza lights, giant wings, and loud trash can exhausts are NOT cool. if you disagree with the last line, you belong in the ricerhonda forum.
