Some Header Help Pleaseeee! Want some opinions on my car as well!

Anyone out there know of a header that can give me more a lil more flow than the stock header.
I own a 97 SC1 with a bored throtle body, custom built ractive cold air intake, ractive 2.25 inch cat back exhaust with a ractive muffler, gutted rear end, bosch +4 plats with delco wires(they gotta go), and short shifter. It's runnig me 16.11's on the 1/4 mile on sticky street tires and a 2x12" sub setup..I've been told to do the following to shave a couple seconds off my 1/4 mile time: NOLOGY Hot wires, NGK plugs, MSD ignition coil and Ignition, Change the ractive intake to an AEM, Honned intake manifold, find a decent header, port and polish the cylinder head, redo the cam, magna flow cat, venom chip, and a dual exhaust. 100 shot NOS.
$$$$3300$$$$ approx in cdn. They figure from 110 HP to close to 200 with out NOS..and some where in the 14's. 13's with the 100 shot.
I wanna know what you people think any advice is appreciated.. i know you got some opinions sierra...lol..lets hear em!

Re: Some Header Help Pleaseeee! Want some opinions on my car as well!

are you going to make this car primarilly a racer or keep it a daily driver?

http://www.spmotorsports.com/saturn_hotshot.html

this the only header for the SOHC to the best of my knowage.

first, pull out the sub at the strip

second, don't get the NOGOLYs, they wreak havok on the car's electrical system. maybe use them if you use the car purely off-road, otherwise you are asking for trouble.

you also may want to get a 0.5 mF or 1 farad cap if you don't already have one (depending on the size of the stereo)

i don't know much about venom, but many high perf saturn owners go with megasquirt - http://www.turbosaturns.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1922 or APEXi - http://www.saturnspeed.com/super_afc.htm

also, i will be highly surprized if dual muffiers will help any, more likey your backpressure will drop to low.

and lastly - 16.11? on a N/A SOHC? can you prove that with a time slip?

Wow. you must be the mack daddy on your block. anyway, I wouldn't change the intake. ractive has very good products plus their exhaust stuff tends to be a little quieter than others. Maybe put your satty on a dyno and see how much increase power there is. The good thing about AEM is you can add their great bypass valve in case the filter gets wet. I would say get an Injen short ram and build a cold air extension since injen tends to produce more power on the dyno than aem. Definitely get the mainifold honned or buy the SPS one, you will get more power. Cylinder heads will add more serious horses too, but I don't know what your budget is. Dual exhaust isn't necessary unless you want to show it off. NOS would be sweet in a saturn! Make your car fun to drive by any means and, in my mind, making it fun is making it fast.

Re: Some Header Help Pleaseeee! Want some opinions on my car as well!

You can always look for the stock headers from a 91-92 sl2, they are reportedly as good as any aftermarket headers, and way cheaper if you can find them. They might not be compatable with the SC1 because they have different heads, but they are very similar engines and I would not be surprised if they fit.
also I totaly agree with forgeting about the dual exhaust, for a 4 cylinder car a 4 into 1 into 2 setup (which is what I am guessing you are going to do) doesn't have the advantages you normaly get from something like a dual exhaust camero with a 8 into 2 setup (this prevents interferince in the exhaust pulses), but it would be hard to fit a dual exhaust into a saturn. you don't need such a high flow exhaust, exhause systems are not about just getting the lowest backpressure, they are about getting the right amount of backpressure.

Also don't forget to lighten that thing as much as possible, removing weight helps everything, not only will it be faster, but it will handle better, break better, and your tires will last longer

some say MSD, some say magnecore, even some say autozone...research is the key

although i don't know for a fact, i heard that that was only the DOHC headers and they were redesigned because of it. contact hotshot to confirm.

they won't DOHC and SOHC exhaust flanges have different bolt patterns, but if nothing else works, i wonder if the DOHC header could be welded to a SOHC flange?

i've seen it done, hard but not impossible, i won't do it to a lowered car though. hell the 93-95 SL2 rear bumber almost looks like it was designed for a dual muffler.

bingo. backpressure = lowend torque

also, with all this engine work, i assume you are also considering brake and handling upgrades?

Re: Some Header Help Pleaseeee! Want some opinions on my car as well!

yeah definately i gotta get bigger rims first though.. its kinda hard doing a big brake upgrade on a 15 inch rim lol..umm what about the header off of a 91-92 sl1? would the holes on the flanges match up with the head on my car? i just got my ngk plugs im awaiting the wires. Also, the dealership says as long as the exhaust tubing is small i shouldnt lose any back pressure..meaning i would have to change the existing line and go back to stock..which i really dont wanna do...for handling though.. what are your suggestions...? go with sps stuff or go like h&r or eibach? lemme know..
thanx for all the help off to do some resaerch!

Although i don't like springs personally, I would go with either eibach or sprint for springs. SPS has braces and sway bars as well. SPS also has good suspension packages too, probably your best buy for upgrading suspension components. Definitely upgrade the rims. I believe you need a 16 to 17 inch rim for brake clearance when upgrading with a big brake kit, plus get some light ones as well to take off some weight.

Re: Some Header Help Pleaseeee! Want some opinions on my car as well!

18" rims might be too big from a performace point of view, realy low profile tires may look cool, but they don't flex properly and they don't handle as well (again it's about ballance so do some research). Plus if you live anywhere you get frost heaves then you will ruin a rim a year or more on bumps.

Also I don't think the 91-92 SOHC had headers, just the same manifolds, I may be wrong though.
