Go to renegadehybrids.com. Keep in mind the kit is expensive but here is the link.

Re: switching out porsche 4 cly for a v8 chevy

i can't believe everybody hasn't jumped on you yet! i've seen a kit in automobile atlanta's catalog, but i wouldn't do that to my car if somebody gave me all the parts. i've seen pictures of a conversion and it looks like the brake booster is a big proplem. they must do some kind of remote booster. it would be very redneck to give up power brakes for a bigger motor. what model 944 do you have? have you considered a 3 liter 16v? ask 930guy i think he's got a hot n/a. surely you can come up with a swap that will be brand loyal and less expensive. also even an all aluminum V8 would be far more heavy than a porsche motor, not to mention more expensive. it's your car, i just hate to think of a 944 with a holley and a crome air filter.

Instead of spending 2k on the kit and 3k on the engine and accessories, why not supercharge your 944. Or sell your 944 and buy a 951. It handles much better than a n/a 944 and there are a ton of things you can do to boost your hp! Just a thought

Re: switching out porsche 4 cly for a v8 chevy

I dont blame you on doign a GM V8 conversion on a early base model 924/944 but if you own a later base model, S2 or Turbo then your a idiot to so such a thing.

Anyways it would be far cheaper to just go buy a 928. It aready has a V8 and youd save your self soem big cash doing a conversion considering such a conversion would cost you about $25K and at that price you could buy a nicely modded WS6 Trans Am or used C5 Vette.

Re: switching out porsche 4 cly for a v8 chevy

I think all the Porsche purists have just given up with all these crazy posts about the small block chevy crap. But again I'll state my opinion: With all the time and money you will spend doing the swap you could have a high HP Porsche motor with out all the disadvantages of a bastardized, no-respect piece of junk. Imagine the resale value of hacked up 944 that you have hundreds of hours into-$0.00

Re: switching out porsche 4 cly for a v8 chevy

If you want a fast 944 just go buy a 944 Turbo with a junked or really high miles and spend teh $25K needed to do a 5.7L swap in building up a 2.8L-3.1L 951 motor. 25K would build you up a really nice 951 that would bitch slap most cars on the road.

I prefer WS6 Trans Am over Camaro. Just my taste, looks more aggressive. The ram air hood is bad@ss
