'97 sable: coolant light comes on but it has plenty of fluid in
reservoire. temp guage is reading normal..it does move down when stopped and up to normal levl after runnning a while...car is not overheating..what could cause this??? |

Bad sensor in reservoir. If you check your coolant regularly anyway, just disconnect the wire on the bottom, that's what I've done. These coolant level sensors go bad in a few years, I had three different makes of cars on which they went bad between 28K to 60K miles. They're just a gimmick as far as I'm concerned.

Yup.. Same here. Went belly up with 38K on it. just disconnected it and all is well.
