Off Road Blazer
I have been tinkering with the idea of maybe trying to make my Blazer a little more off road friendly. I looked around online and found some info and sources for parts. The only thing is, I can only find stuff like a 5" lift and wheels/tires in like a 32 which is a little too big. Is there a mid level lift, like 3 inches and maybe some smaller off road wheels/tires available? I am already going to purchase the intake and exhaust in the next 2-3 weeks. I have also found a brush guard I want. Now I just need to find a lift kit and wheels for it. Anyone on here done this? I know it is a 2wd but I do not plan to go bogging in it. Just some minor off road fun. Anything else I might need to replace when doing the lift? Thanks for any info!

Re: Off Road Blazer
Also, after doing more reading, having problems finding ANYTHING for my 2wd. Is this a waste of time trying to find?

Re: Off Road Blazer
First of all, STOP making a 2wd vehicle for offroad.
Waste of money.

Re: Off Road Blazer
It isnt really for off road. I would like to be able to go through a puddle mopre than 6 inches deep without getting stuck. I am stuck with this vehicle for another 4 years at least so I wanted to make it look a little more beefed up. Once again, I am not trying to take this thing rock climbing. I guess you could say it is more for looks than function. So does anyone know where to get a 3" lift kit for a 2wd? And some good tires/wheels to go with it?

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but finding stuff to lift a Blazer be it 2wd or 4wd has been almost imposible for me. If you or anyone else has info on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Off Road Blazer
Well I found this kit at JC Whitney. Might do some more research on it.

Re: Off Road Blazer
summit racing should have everything you need to jack your stuff up, maybe not the 2wd but, i fit 31's on my blazer with out jacking it up and i can go through everything i found so far. i went with the mickey thompson baja claw radials. tyres1.com has alot of offroad tires that come in radials for the road too.

Re: Off Road Blazer
Can the 31s fit on a 2wd or just the 4wd without a lift?

Re: Off Road Blazer
hm i am not sure, i ahve a 4x4 just had to crank my torsion bars up a bit. let me check my tire size again, i have them off right now for the winter cause i have nicer rims on them. i beleive they are 31/10.5/15 maybe a 30/9.5/15 would be better for a 2wd i am not sure on the clearance and stuff. for sure a 255/70/15 should fit and you can find an aggressive tread in that size too. even the general grabber m/t is nice if thats the mud tire. under 100$ a peice too. look around on that tyres1.com site at tires too. as for a lift..
cheap way is a body lift (sometimes people dont like them) but u can get a 2 or 3" body lift for like 100$ again not sure for 2wd but summit racing may know. hope this helps t' |

Re: Off Road Blazer
Thanks for the info. Looking through summit right now. I know fabtech doesnt offer a kit for my truck so Iam checking through the rest of the vendors now.

Re: Off Road Blazer
This is why I am wanting a little more off road stance/look. My brother livs on a dirt road and the slightest rain makes it almost impossible to drive down. I figure a little bigger tire, better stance with the 2-3" lift would help with the problem. I go over there alot (watch movies, sports, or just to hang out) so it happens all the time. So it isnt really a waste of time or money for me.
I live in south Ga and I think 80% of the roads down here are dirt roads. The pictures below are from saturday. It rained about half an inch to an inch, nothing major. And the road was awful. I ended up getting sideways about 3 times. Luckily I am used to it and didnt get stuck or end up in a ditch. Just trying to make it a little easier for me. =) ![]() ![]()

Re: Off Road Blazer
Your front end *should* be compatible with 2wd S10 pickup front ends, and there are lots of places that make spindle/a-arm lifts for the S10.

Re: Off Road Blazer
2000blazerls.
You don't need to do all that. First of all, just get a good set of tires with decent tread. You don't need a 3 inch lift kit on a 2wd truck, it is just poor thinking. Get a set of all terrain tires and BTW, get a set of mudflaps too.

Even though I would want it to look beefier, it is a bad idea? I know it wont be really funcitonal but if I was going to get bigger tires, I would want the truck to sit a little higher. What is the biggest tire you can fit on a stock 2wd without lifting and without rubbing?
