It's chassis #045, and I've never seen that photo of it.
It's in the same setting as the photos in that carclassic.com ad though as you can see those same cars in the background when viewing the thumbnails. The original images there have the background blurred out. Here's a link to those other photos: http://www.carclassic.com/html/DT01.htm If you save them to your computer and view the folder they are in with the Thumbnail option enabled you can see the unedited backgrounds. Many already know this, but ignore the caption/description in that ad. It doesn't apply to this car at all. I think they borrowed/stole these photos for that ad. As for info on that car, its had quite a history since coming to the USA. It originally arrived as one of the 7 Ameritech F1s. It was one of two F1s that Gerd Petrik brought in through Amerispec Corp's loop holes. He kept it for a while and then apparently sold both the cars because they had problems in the Florida climate. This one ended up in Armen G's hands at Newport Autosport here in California. It sat there for about 9 months or so and was then sold to Motorcars International in the Midwest. From there it was sold to a customer in the Bay area of California named Seth Neimann who kept it for a few years. He has since sold the car again, back through Motorcars International apparently, to a gentleman in New York named Gary Schaevitz who already owns chassis #014, a yellow F1. So did you take that photo yourself? Have any others to share? ![]() >8^) ER |

No sir. In fact, you wouldn't even be able to pull that little trick if the person who blurred out those backgrounds had updated the thumbnails prior to uploading them. The info for the thumbnail is embeded into the .jpg file and only changes when you refresh the thumbnail.
>8^) ER - Actually I just tried that little trick I mentioned and it doesn't appear to be working any longer with these files. I know on the ones I have at home it does work. Maybe its just the PC I am on at the moment.

You're looking at the best thing going on the web right now for the F1. We've covered just about everything that's readily available at one time or another and continue in 'learn as we go' mode. There's nothing official on this car from McLaren except for the minimal site they have always had.

Re: Which F1 is this?
For a car that is commonly regarded as the best production car the world has ever seen and that is so uniquely perfect in concept, engineering and fame, and having been manufactured wholly by a company who are at the forefront of motoring technology and who have just built a massive modern complex of glass, steel and supercomputers, that web site is absolutely DIRE!

I think it was an afterthought, designed mostly to provide a conduit to their sales and support network.

Re: Which F1 is this?
I saw a few pics of that F1 about two years ago. It took me a very long time to track down where because I couldn't remember the name of the place. Today I stumbled onto the link I had been seeking and I believe the pics came from here:
It's called, "The Candy Store". If you look on the "Events" page, you can see the part of the building where the F1 was parked. I believe that the car in the carpassion pics was owned by Seth Neiman at the time the pics were taken. There is a thread in this forum about car locations that mentions Seth and that his car was kept at the Candy Store. Greg A |
