Well I've seen it all transmission problems discussed here with my dodge ram 46re transmission. I have:
1. Replaced the shifter selinoid and pressure sensor to fix the shifting problems. 2. Removed the check valve, installed a cooler, and replaced flushed and replaced the filter to fix the overheating problem. NOW, the transmission does an hard bang at take off and makes a noise when it is in overdrive. Could this be caused by a burnt torque converter or maybe the check valve I removed is causing it since it is actually a torque converter back flush valve (i believe). I have heard it could be cuased by a bad torque converter clutch. Anyone got any Ideas? |

Re: transmission bangs when taking off and noise in O/D
how new is the Truck? If its the electronic tranny
did you replace the Govenor solenoid and the transducer & the output sensor? The noise in the OD is probally the bearing and plate in the OD section dodge has many updates to this part. |

The problem seems to come and go. The noise in OD is a kind of whine or buzzing noise like you are running over the edge of the pavement where they put those indents in the pavement to wake you up. The sort of bang-bang at take off is like you washing machine with a out of balance load. One of the treads here says it is the torque converter clutch, but the problem does not mention the banging at take off. By the way, where can I get these dodge updates? |
