Re: Timing belt
What's the mileage?
If the mileage is close to 60,000 miles or over, it's time to replace the timing belt as well as the tensioner. |

Re: Timing belt
Not sure on the tools needed but make dang sure you replace the timing belt tensor with it. If not, within the first 20k the old tesnor will start to slap around and sound like rod knock.
Also, if your truck has over 100k, and you have no history on the water pump, I would also, swap that out to. -Ryan

Only with the 4-cylinder; there's no adjustment needed on the V6 3.2L or 3.1L.

Yes, being a 1993 3.2L with 128K miles, you will need: 1) T-belt, 2) T-belt tensioner pulley, 3) T-belt tensioner pushrod assembly, 4) Water pump. You will not sustain any engine damage should the T-belt break on the fly (non-interference engine), the engine would just stall out, crank, but not start. No valve adjustements are needed on the 1993-1997 3.2L since they have hydaulic valve lash adjusters ("lifters"). If you are short on $$$ and dont mind driving it as is, wait until the water pump starts to dribble coolant, then change out the whole nine yards.
G/luck! Joel

Re: Timing belt
Does a 99 passport 3.2 have hydaulic lifters? I used to adjust Chevy V8 hydaulics bad in the muscle car days, is this not the same process?
