overheating

hi we have a nissan primera & it keeps overheating. we have changed the thermostat but now it's worse. not sure if there is air in the system. does anyone know how to bleed it as we are not sure. thanks all

These are all americans on here. I'm an Esssex boy living in Canada. A nissan Primera to them is an Infiniti G20, infiniti is Nissan's poncy north american brand same motor though.

About your problem, take a look inside the oil filler cap on top the engine
if there is a mayonaisse looking creamy gear in there then you have water getting into the combustion chamber- (busted head gasket, cracked head, burst water jacket). Is it using water at all? You may also want to run the engine and then feel the top hose coming from the radiator and see if it's hot. If it is then it's not the water pump if it's not hot then there may be you culprit. Hope for the water pump out of those two. Also is it getting hot all of the time or just when in traffic or stationary ticking over? If it's only on tick-over it could be the fan not kicking in so may be the fan switch. Have you looked at your radiator also? It could be that it just needs a good bashing with a jet wash to clean it up so it can do it's job.

We all have chevy cavaliers, same company as Vauxhall, GM but nothing like the English Cavalier. Some have a SMALL 2.2 litre engine!
