Electric fan help

Ok,
Ive completed the following with my 99 silverado 5.3 :

1. Dual Flowmaster 40's, vertically in the fenderwell with turndowns (true dual)
2. FIPK Gen2 - installed earlier today
3. Removed MAF screen (whether or not this did anything, i dont know b/c i did it at the same time when i installed FIPK)
4. cleaned throttle body (when i installed FIPK)

My next project(s) will be :
either Electric Fans OR Underdrive pulley

After that i'll go with a Nelson PCM (but that will be way on down the road when i have the $$)

my question is - What is the best way to approach the electric fan. What brands are best, how are they wired up (pcm controlled? or just thermostat) Should i go with Dual fans, or just a single larger one. ANY advice about these fans would be VERY helpful. I am under the impression that i can just remove the stock fan and leave the shaft/pulley/belt intact, is this true? Does the stock pcm need to be reconfigured when using electric? If so who could do this (i dont have a programmer)

thanks a bunch,
jerry

Re: Electric fan help

I'm not very knowledgable on these fans yet, I'm looking into it more though b/c I'm wanting to do the swap myself soon. The little I do know is that most times, you will have 2 smaller fans as opposed to one large one. Most of them are also controlled my a temerature sensor that is inserted into the radiator flues at installation time. This little sensor is what actually tells the fans when to come on, and go off. You will, however, bebefit from a wiring harness that Allen Nelson (same guy that does the tunes) makes. From what I've heard they make the wiring part a lot easier. I'm sure he could answer your question alot better than me also.

Re: Electric fan help

Not really sure about that, you could give him a call and ask him though. I'm sure he'd help you find some. He may even have some at the shop.
