Just want to know how many people spray inside your house from a spray can in a paint booth or just spray outside in the open

I spray inside, but in my garage that is heated. spraying outside isn't good because you will end up with debris in your paint job.

it depends on the weather, if its above 70 and sunny, i'll paint outside, but I live in Pittburgh PA USA so there's only three months out of the year that actually happens, so usually i'll paint in the garage,

Re: Inside or outside?
If you're refering specificly to rattle cans, I always spray them outside. Too much fumes and overspray to do it safe and tidy inside.
Airbrush on the other hand... |

Re: Inside or outside?
Inside with a plastic sheet on the stove, kitchen door closed, the fan on and you can hardly smell the fumes in the rest of the apartment. I also use a respirator now a days, thank's to my mother- and father in law, and that is a big improvment.

Cans outside, airbrush inside.

Rattle Cans, inside the garage with a paint booth.

Both compressor & rattle can painting is mainly done in the garage. If its nice weather though, the rattle can painting is moved outdoors as it tends to leave a layer of dust on everything in the garage, especially the darker TS paints like deep metallic blue.

Shockingly in my lounge with a window open, no mask or extraction!
Everything is gradually becoming covered in a layer of paint dust and my sneezes are blue (same as my new 911 carrera kit!) |

I know!
I've only been modelling for a month since restarting so not over worried at the moment but planning to build myself a booth with extraction over the next couple of weeks! Oh - and get a mask asap! |

I have a garage attached to my house with an internal door, and has an electric heater. Makes it easy for me to spray in the garage as I just put the heater on 10 minutes before and the garage is loverly and warm. I can then transfer the parts into my build area in the house, and there they can stay until dry. (BTW - why oh why must we always touch parts before they are dry... Why..????? ha..!!)
I have a homemade spray booth - cardboard box with the top and side cut off, there is an external vent (cool) and I just put some paper down around the box to catch the overspray. Job done. I will say though, I haven't been wearing a face mask, naughty naughty and will actually get one ASAP. I should know better..!! |
