master cyclinder/ brake light on

need to replace the master cylinder according to dealer, light is on, wondering how hard is it, local store do not supply it,

Ford has a TSB out saying not to replace the master cylinder. It is the cap that leaks and there is a revised cap for the resovoir.

I put my own spacer between the cap and the gasket. The space has finally compressed after two years, and the leak has started again. Does Ford charge you for the new cap?

if you are out of warranty they will.

They changed the cap for the 04 model year. 01-03 are all the same, and 04 and up are the same. I don't know which you need but if there is a TSB out then I would get the one listed for that bulletin. Either way, if you have to pay for it, it looks like it will only cost you about 20 bucks.
