1994 ranger 4x4 prob.

I have a friend with a 1994 ranger, 4x4, 6 cyl 5 speed man trans. His 4hi light is always lit. But the truck is in 2hi and will not go into 4hi or low. Any ideas on why the light stays lit and it wont engage?

Interesting, I know someone with the same problem. Did you ever find out what the cause was?

not sure if there is a switch where shifter linkage goes into transfer case but that is where everything hapens after you pull the stick. like on my dodge, when you pull the stick it hits a switch and sends vacume to front axle to engauge axle lock fork to engauge.haven't looked at that old of a ranger but should be some kind of switch on transfer case.
