Re: Intake

Apexi

Although I recommend the K&N. The Apexi does not give that much better results and the K&N has a number of different sizes that you can change to later and they are easy to clean/resuse.

Re: Intake

Apexi > KN

... actually, to be accurate ...

Apexi Intake Kit for MR2 > K&N Intake Kit for MR2 (by a small margin).

I suspect, my K&N filter choice drastically alters that equation

Re: Intake

NJMR2, if you have the AFM (most likely) you need to by the K&N FIPK for the MR2 turbo. This includes: the cone filter, the bracket to hold the filter onto the car and the adapted to get the filter onto the AFM.

Lachean, I actually had a larger K&N on my AFM.
The one that comes with the FIPK is 4.5" long X 6" taper to 5" tall IIRC. I bought a replacement filter for it that was 10" long X 6" tapers to 5".

does anybody here have the apexi intake kit install in their mr2? i was just wondering because i installed mine, and it looked kind of funny. what i meant by that is, the filter did not fit perfectly, and so i have to twist my afm alittle to change the position of the filter to make it fit. i only used 1 bracket to hold the intake from swaying back and forth. the apexi kit comes with 2 brackets, but i couldn't make the other one fit. the space is just too tight. is it ok if i used only 1 bracket? its the one where it holds the filter in place vertically. the other bracket holds the filter horizontally. i don't know if 1 bracket is gonna hold. i didn't know changing airfilter on a mr2 can be so hard. anyone with any kind of info to as how i can improved my filter locations would be much appreciated. one more thing, my intake pipe has to be push alittle back in order for the bracket to be bolted in place.

Re: Intake

yeah i installed one on mine...

if you got the right kit it will fit perfectly... i'd take some pics but some ass stole my camera...and my g/f's car... will try and get some pics up for you some time though, both brackets fit no problems, trick is not to tighten them up till you have them in place.. you do need to rotate the AFM clockwise round that elbow, should sit in the space that the "cow stomach" intake resonator/expansion tank sits...

mine could probably do with a clean so if i pull it out i'll try and get some pics for you.... oh, and i've been very happy with it's performance
