I was driving my 1998 mitubishi elcipse gs automative home the other night and when i got to the turn for my road the car jerked and then stopped. The car was still running but the transmission wouldn't kick in the make it go. After a while of pushing the accelerator the tranmission kicked in a i was off. Then after about 70 feet it did again and wouldn't move. It keeps doing it on and off and will not stay in gear. The car just revs up and won't move. Could it be a bad transmisson although it does kick in and has enought fluid or could it be a sensor or something.

Re: possible transmission problem
sounds like your tranny is in limp mode. either that or the shifting solenoid is busted. try pull the TCU code..... detail can be found on Vfaq.
