I have a 1991 1.9 engine with 91,000 miles; runs great! Transmission is bad. What is teh engine worth? It's near Yellowstone National Park.

Re: 1.9 engine; what is it worth?
We just paid $400 (in Calif., 80 miles North of LA) for a low (we arn't sure how low, it just looks that way) mileage 1.8L engine.
I would guess, if you took yours out and cleaned it, it's gotta be worth $300 at least. Call a local yard and ask them how much they would sell theirs for, for the best estimate. Good luck. |

Re: 1.9 engine; what is it worth?
If you shop around,$300.00 will get you a good 2.0 spi. Only my opinion, but it's a pretty hefty price for an old 1.9. And it's logical that a dohc 1.8 would be worth more.

Re: 1.9 engine; what is it worth?
There was a 1.8L with 79,000 miles on ebay a couple of weeks ago. We looked at it back when it first listed but didn't expect it to sell for less then $250 plus the shipping cost from one coast to the other, (around $100). And we thought, "What if there is something wrong with it?".
So we passed on it. It sold for $50. D'oh! $151 sure would have been better then the $400 we ended up paying for one here. I guess you can find prices all over the spectrum so $100 is probably good. Charge what the market will bear! |
