Transmission help

Well my transmission has seen its better days and now I need to replace it. I love my 96 HB with the 1.3 auto. I thought that if I change transmissions I would go the 4 speed auto instead of the three speed like I have now. That would help improve gas mileage right??? Can that be done? (wife can't drive a 5 speed or I'd go that route) Any helpful info you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!

Jeff

Re: Transmission help

Prism is a Toyota. The only auto is the 3 speed. The Canadian Metro sedan with the 1.6l had an OD but I was told it has a slightly different bellhousing. This was discussed in a previous post. I wish there were an AOD we could use but I guess we are out of luck.
