coolant temp sensor

i've got a 1995 grand am 3.1. it overheated and the temp gage is pegged. i'm looking for the coolant temp sensor and can't find it. i found the one by the thermostat but that just runs the fan. thanks for any help. jim

It is located on the back side of the engine drivers side has single wire going to it. Kinda hard to replace, but doable.

make sure its the sensor and not the gauge. to check this, unplug the sensor and turn the car on, the gauge should drop....
