Engine specs

Anybody know the engine specs for a 89 yota v6..model, liter etc...

I am going to be picking up a 89 4x4 but i was told there was a overheating situation. I was told there was a rebuilt engine installed. what should I check for. and do you think maybe the engine block or head could be cracked.

i am picking it up for 1000.00 with the old engine on the side for spare parts..

thank you in advance....Troy

Re: Engine specs

You know....if you decide you don't want to fool with, call me! My daughter wants my 89 king-cab 4x4. Of course I've got to put bigger tires and wheels on it PLUS a winch! Where do teenage girls get such ideas!!!

Anyway, back to yours.......It's hard to believe a rebuilt engine is cracked, although it is possible. Make sure you don't have water in the oil before doing anything. Pull out dipstick, if you have a milky-white goo on it, you've found your problem! If you do, let me know. If no water in oil take the radiator cap off of it and crank it up. You should see some good water circulation. If not, bad water pump or radiator needs cleaning. If you have good flow, check the thermostat. Of course it really isn't worth the time to "actually" check it by heating water and watching a thermometer! Just replace it, although you may want to run it without it for a while to see if that was the problem.
