'01 express brake harness problem

Wondering if anyone else had this problem. Recently, whenever I depressed the brake pedal, my panel lights would go on. Also, when the car was in my driveway, no ignition on and no keys in the ignition, I could press the brake pedal and the door bell would sound until i let go of the pedal.

Took it to the dealership, and they found out that the brake lightbulbs were melted at the contact points, but still worked! Installed new harness, but couldn't insure it from happening again. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this? thanks in advance.
