First off, it's illegal. No shop will do it. Put just the muffler on. Should be enough noise for you. If it's not, remove the resonator. If that's not loud enough, you're deaf.

A high flow catalytic converter is probably the answer you're looking for. They don't cost too much, flow better and have just a slight kick in noise, but aren't illegal.

A removed cat is illegal where they check emissions and can make it quite a bit louder. Friend of mine put a straight pipe in place of his cat on his Integra LS and it was noticeably louder - he already had a muffler and header. He put his cat back on. I would have too.

Never say never, none, or any other absolute. There is always an opposite. Its like those true or false questions. Anyhow to the point. The shop that did my custom exhaust actually asked me if i wanted to take my cat off. Thats in south carolina though, but it is a "shop" and they would do it.
