UK Photo-etch dealers?

Hi Guys,

Do any of you know of any UK dealers who sell Photo-Etch sets? I'm looking for the Focus Rally photoetch set specifically. I know of Studio 27 but they're American (right?!) and the postage costs will make me cringe!

Thanks

Try www.grandprixmodels.com - they don't keep much in stock but will get anything you need that is listed on their comprehensive website.

Otherwise I've had stuff from HLJ and Scale Race Cars, neither were too expensive and shipping costs and times were very good.

If they have what you need, go with HLJ. The postage is very reasonable and so are their prices. I have used the SAL method twice and both times got my gear in exactly 2 weeks.

Studio 27 is a Japanese company. Scale Motorsport is the American company. For what it is worth sometimes shippig from the US is less than buying it from a local dealer. I woud expect that 1 photo etched set fromt eh US to the UK or Europe is under $5.00.
You can see the shipping rate to your location at http://www.scaleracecars.com by placing a photo etched set in the shopping basket than clicking shipping costs in the new box that opens.
Air letter shipping is the least expensive and normally arrives around the world in less than 10 days.

I'm in the UK, and I'd get mine from http://www.scaleracecars.com shipping fast and cheap, if I was in a rush.
You can try http://www.autosport-models.com, but I have just checked and they don't have it only the Tamiya kit and PE set together @ £42 Expensive.

Cheers guys for your help. I think I'll go with scaleracecars.

Whats the deal with fitting them to plastic/painted car parts? Do you need a special glue?

The glues I have at the moment are:

Revell Contacta Liquid Special & Micro Kristal Klear

Re: UK Photo-etch dealers?

I don't recommend using super glue on painted parts, the glue will melt the paint sometimes. To attach small P/E details to the painted car, use some acrylic clear coat.
Whenever possible, super glue P/E to bare plastic and then paint, or use very small amounts of super glue on painted parts when you really have to.

Super glue, or CA glue as it is also called, is ideal for P/E.

Re: UK Photo-etch dealers?

1 or 2 sheet of PE from www.scaleracecars.com cost less than 4$ to Canada, so it's cheap

Re: UK Photo-etch dealers?

ONe guy you might want to try in the UK is Paul at www.little-cars.com He's mainly 1:43 but deals in a lot of other stuff and if he hasn't got it I'm sure he would try and get it for you. I used to live just down the orad from him before moving to San Diego and I still get kits from him now, his postage to the US is probably the cheapest ever, give him a try.
