stroked and boosted b18c1

im thinkin about doin my engine build this spring/summer i plan on turboing to high boost between 2-3 bar i plan to overbore and sleeve the block and i know i have to streangthen the bottom end so i figured why not stroke it and get a little more displacement. now ive read a little about a longer stoke puting more stress on the rods but will this matter with stronger parts dessigned for this and how will boost and high revs effect this. all opinions on strength and stress issues and brands/companies for parts required are wanted, also suggestions for good cams for this setup(nitrous will be used for spool up so i need strong shit in the bottom end and pistons. darton sleeves will be used in the block)

Re: stroked and boosted b18c1

you realize thats like 30-45psi right? you're looking at a $20-25,000 project right there if you're going to do it right.

Re: stroked and boosted b18c1

2-3 bar is about 29-43psi.... that's pretty damn high. I don't think I would ever want to boost my b18c1 that much, no matter what support I did. I agree with Kornflakes28546, that's a very expesive project. Is this your daily driver?

yeah 2-3 bar is a bit much unless you're planning on going strictly drag... darton sleeves to my knowledge are good to around 26-30psi I believe so if you really do want that 3 bar the sleeves (among other things) won't hold for long... believe me 20 pounds of boost will be plenty for a gsr especially if you're going to bore it out... generally speaking most setups will stroke their engines if they're going NA not FI, not to say you can't do it but it's not really necessary... if you really are wanting and planning on running 2-3 bar I would highly recommend on not stroking out the motor... if you bore it out to 84mm and run 20-22lbs that will be plenty of kick for you to get in trouble with (if not dead)... as far as cams go personally I would keep your stockers in there for now, when you go FI you generally don't need an agressive cam so the honda cams will do fine... as far as bottom end components eagle makes rods and cranks for the B18C1, there is also crower who makes rods... pistons there are arias, je and other companies out there that are equivalent...

i'm sorry but i highly doubt that you will get 2-3 bar on a b series. I just looked up some forced induction B's and came across a professionaly built B18c5 running 22 psi and it was making 770 HP at the wheels and almost 600 ft/lbs of torque. I'm not positive but isn't 22 psi about 1.5 bar? soooo yeah 2-3 is gonna be damn near impossible.

edit: I just read up on another B18c that was running 20psi supercharged making about 500 hp at the wheels and 300 ft/lbs.

So anyway i kinda think 25-30 psi will be tops and I also think that even that is gonna be way excessive and that you will never hook up.

Re: stroked and boosted b18c1

very true... i wouldn't go for more than 300whp on street tires. plus w/ all that boost (2-3 bar)you'll be needing race fuel, i think you'll be happy with less than 20psi.

Re: stroked and boosted b18c1

i should have been a little more clear when i say overbore i just plan to go big enough that i wont lose any displacement with the sleeves so that if i didnt stroke it it would still be about 1.8l and if i do stoke it it'll probly just go to 2.0 and if im buying stronger parts for the bottom end y not go just a little longer (i mean how much longer are they just to get an extra .2 littres). yes it will be street driven but not really a "daily" driver when i say 2-3 bar yes i know how much psi that is. i wont run it that high daily for obvious reasons but at the track with slicks and 500hp axles (im also in the market for a type r or similar tranny with limited slip) i plan to push it close to the limit and i want my limit to be between 2-3 bar.
ive read a bit about crower and eagle makes a srtoker kit for honda and ive seen a set of je pistons i really liked but my issue is every company is gonna tell you there the best so i tend to trust guys in the field opinions over the guys trying to sell me so if you guys have any experience with the parts named or others that are better hook me up with that info.

as far as being 25grand wow! how did you add that up? anyway my cousin owns a bike shop and i got the hook up with his machineist. sleeves are definatly under a $1000 stroker kit under $3.5k turbo i have but might trade or sell for a bigger one. nitrous i have but will probably buy a second kit for a two stage setup. i already bought a laptop for my ems. but any hoo im selling my house for about a 60-70k profit, now my mom keeps saying something about finishing something and something about my degree but i cant stop thinkin bout my damn car. now i no a lot of you think this all sounds crazy but im on my way to buying my own shop and making this whole import lifestyle a career and this car will mostly be promotion so it needs to be crazy to show others what is possible.

Re: stroked and boosted b18c1

I pretty sure most of the companies out there that offer sleeves for honda motors will probably give a rating of just shy of 2 bar for maximum withholding ability so if you are serious about running 3 bar make sure whatever sleeves you get that they're rated to 42-45psi because if not you'll either crack a sleeve or float one, which = very bad.
