Scion TC on desert mountain twisties and tc vs tegra

Before we get things started here just wanted to say this is my first post. I have been lurken the boards for a while waiting for the right encounter to post on the boards and i finally got one.

Also, i am currently driving a Scion TC 5 speed, my only mods are a TWM short throw, and the TRD axel-back exhaust. furture mods inclue trd suspension and S/C if that will ever come out.

Ok, on to my encounters. Saturday around 2 pm a buddy and me decided to take our cars to South Mountain (single lane each way windy mountain roads, the kind u see in the comercials and wish u could take your car there.) He was driving his 6 speed GLI and me in my TC. First run we go through the roads he is leading and i am manageing to keep up with him. After a few turns i can feel my car loosing a bit of traction but i keep on it. We come around a blind corner wich winds around and has a bit of a jump. I catch about six inches of air and come very close to bottoming out . The road then straightens out and we make it to the top of the resting area and let our engines cool. Now its my turn to lead back down. This time sence i am ahead i go balls to the wall to really feel how the TC can handle. After a few tight turns i start to notice her weight and realize she was not the best at handling. I start to slow it down a little as i become more cautious. We finally reach the end and it is my friends turn to lead. This time we take a road that winds up and around the mountain with tighter turns. My friend has been building confidence and this time i cannot keep up with him and at the top he is waiting for me with a big grin on his face. On the way back down i am leading i come upon a part in the road that sloaps up and down dramatically i take it too fast and feel my car bottom out. From then on i take her slow and cautious to the bottom.

Over all i learned a few thing about my car and really got a nice feel for what it could do.

My next encounter happened l8er that Night after leaving my girlfriends house.

I decided to get some gas and pulled into a 76. I noticed there was a new mustang there so i pulled up to the pump next to it, curious if it wanted to run. I looked over and saw 4 girls packed into the car and didn't bother. I fillled up payed and pulled out onto the street. Out of the corner of my eye i notice a 95ish tegra with a huge fart can and a carbon fiber hood. We catch a light, I look over and see the driver and a friend in the car. they didn't look back so i didn't think they wanted to race. so when the light turns green i take off normal, thinking o well mb i will find more rice on my way home. I look in my rear view mear and notice the integra is comen up on my side and paces me. I look over and roll down my window. I signal to them with 3 honks. They point back at me meaning u honk down. So he pulls behind me then into the lane into my right becuase there was a car about 200 yards up in his lane. He gives me the thumbs up i drop down to 40 in secound and him in 3rd i honk down and we're off. 6250 i shift into third we ar dead even shortly after i see him shift into 4th and near the top of third round 5500 i start to pull a lil, an intersection is coming up and i have half a car on him and we shut down. we pull into the safeway parking lot i find out his integra has a jdm engine swap. he said the "b18b non-vetec." and when he opened the hood that confirmed it. He said he was turning his car into the ls vtec what ever that is. the only mods i noticed was a short ram air and a cat-back exhaust. After that race i was pretty content i finally found a race that was very close. Due to the area i live in there is alot of expensive cars that pound on me.

I assume you are talking about the Jetta GLI? Those things are pretty quick, you would do well to keep up with one.

Same.

I wish chicago had a mountain area to bring my car up on. Then again it is snowing here and I drive a mustang, aka id fly off the side before I even reach the first turn.

yeah this place was amazing i had heard my dad talking about it but didn't belive it was quite like that. This place was completely empty with cars the road was ours. Best way i could explain this place is the first roads was more of a road that wound up in a canyon prolly about 3 miles long total. secound road looked like somthing straight of or wrc. VERY windy with a huge drop off.

Also the roads had just been repaved so it was very nice

and yeah its a Jetta GLI with the handleing package, Brembo brakes 18 inch potenzas and a better suspension.

Fatty brakes...that's enough to beat you right there alone on a twisty road.

I live in the Naperville area and work in Oakbrook. 1/4 would be at least a low 14 (guessing by what others have run) I pass 355 every day.

Nice races, welcome to AF. Sounds like some fun times, I got some twisties out here near my school, and whenever I need to clear my mind, I just go blasting through them...
