How much on average does it cost for repairs on a civic. Are they cheaper than most domestics?

Ok. I'll be more specific. How much would an alternator cost on a civic? I'm wondering this because my mom is thinking of trading in her corolla for a late 90's civic.

Remanufactured alt from the local auto store for my old civic cost $150 with a lifetime warranty. Good thing I had that lifetime warranty cause I went through 4 of them.
