Supercharge a motor with 156000 miles

Hi I just bought a jackson racing supercharger for my 98 civic EX. I have the D16y8 motor with 156000 miles on it. I am good to the car, it doesn't smoke or anything. Do you all think it's ok to supercharge it or do I need to buy a new motor. If I need another motor any good idea where to buy a stout rebuilt one. Thanks

Compression check + leakdown check. If you have good compression and zero/low leakdown you're fine, it doesn't matter how many miles are on it.

Leakdown, not leak. If you do a compression check and everything is gravy you dont really need to do a leakdown test. Go to sears and buy a craftsman compression tester, it should have instructions on how to use it. It measures the cranking compression of your motor, which is a good indication of ring seal and other things.

Re: Supercharge a motor with 156000 miles

the compression may give you a general idea, but, if your results are iffy with the compression, try the leakdown along with it.

the jrsc is a detonating machine. though, it is not an immediate threat, unless you are in high boost levels, it will however wreck havoc on your pistons and ringlands overtime. if your motor health is good, just remember to control detonation when you put the blower in.
