exhaust system

hey what causes you to get a hole in your exhaust system? could it be over reving and if you have an automatic would driving it in the 1st gear position cause a hole too?

What makes you think driving in any gear too long will cause holes in your exhaust? The holes are caused by corrosion, rust. Since most exhaust systems are made from aluminized steel they can last for quite a while, but eventually everything will rust so it's only a matter of time untill it rusts away. If you want to completely eliminate the problem get a Stainless Steel exhaust system, it will almost certainly out live your car x5.
