I'm thinking about buying a Rodeo what do you think?

I'm looking at buying a 94-95 Rodeo with the V6. It has 128,000 miles on it has new shocks on it. That's all I really know about the thing. The guy is asking $2000 for it let me know what you guys think about this since I have never owned a Isuzu Rodeo.

ask about maintenance records
get someone to check it out for you if you have to
as far as Rodeo as a purchase option I would definatly do it if you want to really treat yourself try to find a trooper around that age

True, 4-runners are pretty sweet, but you wont touch a 1994-95 for $2000 .

Hey Joel, you didn't say if you'd advise on buying the rodeo.

To the person posting this qestion, take advice from rodeo02, amigo-2k, and 2eyefishclaw, they are our RESIDENT EXPERTS (no offense to those I forgot - you know who you are)!

Myself, I love my 99 rodeo S, but that's just me ;-)

I love mine, in fact, I've had 2 Rodeo's. A 91 V6, and currently a 97 V6 - original owner of both, and I wouldn't chose to own any other kind of SUV. My only complaint is that Isuzu hasn't built a full size 3/4 ton truck in "their" name only, don't want a chevy truck.

I personally wouldn't give you 2 cents for a 4-runner; sorry, but every person I've known with a 4-runner has had more problems with head gasket failures, sludging in the engine, transmission shifting noises, etc.

I'm very partial to the 91-97 Rodeo years, their V6's are worth their weight in gold, and very bulletproof in my opinion.

I'd personally say check up on all maintenance records, and/or have an "Import" mechanic look at it.

I have 134K flawless miles on my 97 V6, all original, exception is tires, batteries, alternator, etc. typical wear/tear items.

I am the original owner of a 95.5 Rodeo S 4WD. It has a mere 245000 miles on it and still running strong. Routine maint. is a must with this vehicle if you want to get this kind of mileage out of it. I plan on getting double this if nothing unforeseen happens. Buy the rodeo, but check it out first. Pay attention to the CV boots, Check out the tail pipe to see if it is real sooty or greasy. Ask for maint. records, ie oil changes, timing belt change, water pump change. The price seems in line with blue book price. Depends on how well it was kept up. Good luck

Head for the hills and dont turn back i bought a 97 rodeo and when its running well its great especially in the snow since its so heavy but problems happen one right after the other , oil consumption , the rediculous sealed transmission, cv boots easily tear ,spring bushings wear ,faulty alternators, back door locks stick in the winter, sure u can check records i even sent it to a 24 hour used car place that checks your car for 50 bucks but it doesnt warn you about forthcoming problems and there will be some all those problems happened to me and i bought the truck with 49k miles and its only at 90k today

Re: I'm thinking about buying a Rodeo what do you think?

Yeah, a couple of occasions my engine had no oil (well not completely dry - but it IS a 1993 v6!), I was surprised my truck ran until I added more oil in it....damn thing is a tank! I had major oil leaks a year ago and ran fine until I got her fixed this year (very minor leak, but I could live with it). Truck is now 126K and going strong. Changed alternator, belts, O2 sensor, battery, new sound system, brakes, shocks and other wear and tear stuff...truck might be old but to me, she's Old reliable...lol...

2 eyefishclown.

I'm sure you're just kidding...I didn't find anything offensive in your posts, unless you're attacking other users....

Thanks SOLSTER!!! I am by no means an expert, just been around isuzu's and on these forums for awhile. I like to follow these things & help people out however I can. I would always recommend a rodeo or trooper to those in the market for this type of vehicle. You get a ton of truck for the money, and they hold up much better than similar domestic trucks. Rodeo & trooper (1993+) bodies hold up exptremely well in crappy salt covered winter time roads as well. You see lots of them in the Buffalo NY area that still look like new after many years!
G/luck
Joel
