if you want looks you can go with the intgra as a shell but why a GSR? if you really want a teg get a LS with a million miles on it! Or if you want a fast car get a CRVtec and put it in a 4th gen civic hb maybe even a 5th gen (thats what I did). If you would like to build a hybrid let me know, I have lots of good links and would love to disscuss all the cool options avaible to you. I am a mod for the hybrid forum on www.hondanet.org still smal but it is slowly growing.

LS shell or GSR shell???
thats wut i was thinkning in the beginning, but i found that it is a lot easier to find a GSR shell than a manual LS shell...but tell me, what are the advantages of both? i'm not really either shells? or a type-R engine? also, i heard of the SPOON enigine, supposed to be better than the type-R in most aspects...wuts ur take on the SPOON?
and another thing...wut are hybrids? i'm thinking that its an engine made up of different parts, but wuts the advantages of this? thanks for replying |

spoon makes some good parts but i really wouldnt want an all spoon engine. if you want some dyno proof there is a type-r on www.importreview.com that has all spoon crap and it didnt run so well.
true it is easier to find a GSR in a 5spd, maybe because the GSR only came in a 5spd. Hybrid, simply put is a car, my 95 civic hb, that has a motor from anthor car, mine has a integra ls B18B1, swapped into it. the hatchbacks are so light that even a small engine, 142 hp and 123 tq, has enough power to really scream. on import review there is a CRX that has 170-180 hp to the wheels and does a 1/4 in the mid 12's simply because the car is dam light. checkout www.hondanet.org I made a sticky, a post that never moves in the hybrid forum, that may answer all your questions about where to buy engines as well as what engines swap into which cars. Ask as many q's as you like!!! I am sure myself or someone else will have an answer!

thanks
thanks for clarifying a lot of the shit that i was wondering about...
now, lets talk about the dinero involved in getting an engine... which engine would be the most bang for the buck? a) type-R ? b) hybrid ?...if so, which kinda engine? i also need to find out how much it will cost me...please keep in mind that i want a shell, so its not an engine swap but just a drop thanks |

spoon
that was just a type r motor with spoon stuff. A SPOON ENGINE is supposed to haul major ass but they cost around 9k and you have to order it direct from japan. a little out of your price range.

well to be honest,
any engine to be placed in a civic b18, b16 will fit into the factory mounts and wirring harness (read hear 5th gen). although w/ a teg u wouldnt need a new treanny ecu half shafts and all the other crap u need for a swap. Spoon engines, I didnt know you could actually order them. do you have a website or a distributor? Spoon engines sound like F&F BS anyways. I have a buddy who is makeing a kickass turbo engine setup for a little under 10k. he should run low 12's.

It used to be here: www.spoonsports.com/engine.html
but the site has been taken down. You can look around their new website: http://www.spoonsports.co.jp/e/f_menu.html and see if you can find it. they are for racing purposes anyway, not for street use. There are some posts about spoon engines for civics, http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t25039.html they are a little cheaper for b16 engines. |

spoon products are great. i like what i've got and seen so far. never actually have i seen the spoon engine in person but i have heard great reviws on it. its type-r equilivant is supposed to kick around 220hp. i dont know if that means to the wheels, but thats still gonna hit more than the honda type-r engine.
spoon is hard to get your hands on though, even more so i would imagine a whole engine. but goto http://www.spoonsports.ca and see what you can find. spoonsports.com is shut down indefinately... and most performance shops are willing to order anything, especially something like spoon. its the best. good luck with the engine.

yeah it's a little pricy...the B18C5 is the American Type-R Motor...all that listed cost about $22K and I got every single part at dealer cost and labor at 1/2 off...but it's definately worth it
