Re: 2g or 3g HELP DESCISION

with 12 grand you could get a 99 GSX or GST with money left over. 2g eclipse is an american icon, 3g eclipse is an american chick car

definately a 2g turbo. you will hate yourself if you get a 3g instead of the sexy, and beastly 2g

Re: 2g or 3g HELP DESCISION

Get a 2g (1995-1999) turbo awd (Eclipse GSX or Talon Tsi AWD). The 3g's are heavy and do not have NEAR the potential of a 1g or 2g dsm. In fact, I can't think of any aspect of the 3g that is superior to the 2g (besides their lifters, that is ).

Re: 2g or 3g HELP DESCISION

i have looked at the cars and i like the body on the 2g better but what about motor size doesnt that play a part in how much power you can get out of the motor

Re: 2g or 3g HELP DESCISION

The 2g's either came with the 2.0L non turbo or 2.0L turbo. Non turbo was about 140 hp and the turbo was about 210. I dont know anything about 3g's because i don't care about them.

Re: 2g or 3g HELP DESCISION

get a turbo 2g. I have a 3g v6 top of the line and it doesn't have nearly as much potential as the turbo 2g so I'm working to save up for a used turbo 2g right now.

Re: 2g or 3g HELP DESCISION

What are you going to do with the car? 2g turbos are going to be faster and have a lot more potential. If I wanted a newer slow daily driver, I STILL wouldn't pick a 3g.

easy as pie. check out http://www.dsmtuners.com/tuning-guide/2gturbo/

with, an intake, turbo back, bov, mbc, running 14 psi, you could easly run a low 14 sec 1/4 mile. you'd have to turbo a 3g to get that. NO ONE at the track will give a flying rats rear end about a 3g compaired to a GSX. let me tell you!! 3g eclipse's are a JOKE to the tuning community!

stock the 2g only has like 10 more hp, but its TURBO hp, totally different. also a turbo is forced air induction, so all the air flow mods have a greater affect on the performance compaired to a n/a. also an engine that is DESIGNED to have a turbo, will obviously run turbo or larger turbo much better.

I've dusted 3-4 3rd gens and just laugh ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ... 0 losses...
It's not the size of the motor it's what you do with it..... well thats what I tell the wife anyways.......
Once you go turbo you you don't go back to slowgo.
