in need of immediate help

my lebaron is turning to junk on me. im having probs witht e powersteeering pump/pulley. i need help on troubleshooting for it. the prob is i bought a brand new belt, and a brand new pulley. when i start the car up the pulley instantly pops off half way and runs half on half off the power steering pulley.so i figured if i let it go ahead and burn the hald of teh belt off it will just styay on. well after that the belt pops off halfway again and rides like that. well eventually it wore the pulley loose and now the belt wont stay on at all. i cant figure out whats making the belt come off. any help? i would really need it.

Re: in need of immediate help

get a straightedge or long ruler and measure the trueness of the pulley angle in relation to the next pulley, i.e. crank pulley or alternator pulley. If it's off by as much as 1/8" it's too much and you have to realign the pulley or pump to compensate for it being off.

Re: in need of immediate help

what I mean by trueness is if that pulley is truly straight or parallel to another pulley like the crank pulley. If you aren't too sure as to what you're doing, my suggestion is to take it to a mechanic and have them check all that stuff out for you.
