Unhappy 4x4 does not engage when I push the button

I got my truck back from the shop. I found when I pushed the 4hi shift on the fly, nothing happens. The only way to make it shift, I have to put it in nutral then, the light blinks a few times and goes back to 2hi. In order to go to 4low, I do the normal, stop, nutral, and shift.

Can anyone help shed some light on this for me? Please and Thank You.
AJ

Don't know if this is the case with your vehicle but I recently took my car in to the dealer to have my 4wd diagnosed as it wasn't going in to 4wd at all (hi/lo). They said the problem was with the vacuum lines or something and I got it fixed for around $150 at the dealer.

Re: 4x4 does not engage when I push the button

Thank you. I was thinking the same thing. I hope you're right. I am going to reset my computer first. If that dose not work I will replace the vacuum line.

Thank you,
A.J.

Remove the negative cable from the battery for half an hour.

Re: Re: Re: 4x4 does not engage when I push the button

It did work for me. However, I did some investigation and found that while my truck was in the shop for brake service, they had blown a fuse some how. I know this because I found the fuse puller on the floor. I assume it had sent a false code to the computer and caused the 4x4 not to react. Love that computer....

Thanks
AJ

That is not cool, blown a fuse and never told you?

It is really getting sad when mechanics are starting to get more and more sneaky.
