2000 Chevy S-10 4x4 High-Pitched Electronic Sound

Is anyone familiar with this problem? The truck seems to run fine. Has only 68,000 miles. The noise sounds as though it is coming from beneath the cab, rather than from the engine compartment. Thanks.

High-Pitched Sound

I have the same on my 2000 S10 4X4. It is the electric fuel pump. I'm not certain if it is inside the fuel tank or on the outside. Nevertheless it is the fuel pump making that alien sound. Mine sounds like a UFO on occasion, ha,ha.

Your fuel pump is in the gas tank. The whining noise you describe sounds like your pump. Have you ever changed your fuel filter, honestly? I am a gm tech, and I see more fuel pumps start making noise after 2 instances. Never changing the filter and always running your tank below a quarter tank of fuel. The fuel pump has no cooling device other than being submerged in fuel. Constantly running your tank low, takes away the only thing that keeps it from overheating, fuel. Dirty fuel filters, combined with low fuel, equals trouble. Time for a new pump, or your noise is going to become a cranks but won't start condition.
