No Oil Pressure
My oil light was flashing and i took my 99 passat 1.8 turbo to the dealer and was told there was no oil pressure and that I needed a new engine. What's the truth and the approx cost for an engine. Thanks.

Re: No Oil Pressure
Zero pressure? They didn't suggest a new oil pump? Was the engine making alot of noise or driven with the light on?

First Thing Get Service Records, Vw Has In Effect Extended 1.8 Turbo Warranty For Oil Sludge Condition, If Oil Changes Were Done Then You Get Free Engine. But You Have Got To Have Records

Re: No Oil Pressure
Oil sludging seems common. Before I'd replace the engine I'd have them check the bearings for signs of damage. If all looks okay I'd try a new pump first.
