Need help with the Codes

I got a '97 Jimmy, 4wd, AT, 74K and lately its been acting up. Issues I've noticed are a big drop in MPG and a slight rise in operating temp (nothing dramatic). The SES light came on so I took it up to Adavance and they scanned it for me (the SES light went off the morning I took it up there.) Codes that the scanner provided were P0122 and P1122, both related to the TPS. The Advanced guy said I should get further diagnosis because something else could be causing the TPS to act up.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Additional diagnostics are needed to determine if the failure is in the TPS, VCM or the connection to the VCM. The TPS costs about $50 and is a simple R&R procedure. I would check the connection to the VCM and the wiring first. I don't like to R&R parts just to determine cause, but $50 is less than the average shop rate for 1 hour. If it's the VCM I'd have a service tech do the work.

Re: Need help with the Codes

Well, check the connection to the TPS, but with the P1122, you need to change the sensor.

Easy to replace as long as you have a good Haynes or Chilton's repair manual.
