Patherfinder 01SE Engine Code
I have a Pathfinder SE 2001 with 20,000 miles on it. The service engine soon light came on. Took it to my regular mechanic and he was able to get the code. He told me it was 1140. Any ideas what this specific code means? (My mechanic is a good egg. Didn't charge for looking at the truck or finding the code!)
I've seen mentioned in prior threads about problems with the catalytic converter or spark plugs on the Pathy. I just want to have some idea what specifically this code states before I take it to the dealer as recommended by my mechanic. (Nissan would not tell my mechanic what the code ment! Nissan service has never given me a warm, fuzzy feeling and they just keep getting worse.) Thanks in advance for the help. Tin |

DTC P1140 (RIGHT, -B1),INTAKE VALVE TIMING CONTROL POSITION SENSOR
Common for this sensor to go bad, easy to replace based on past posts in other forums.

I see a lot of posts dealing with ,in my opinion,Warranty issues. Are you people down there getting screwed out of warranties?A 2001 vehicle is still under emissions warranty unless you attempt your own repair.

Like I said very easy fix. It is the sensor that is on the front of the right (passenger) side cylinder head. All you need to do is unplug the sensor (small 3-prong plug) and use a 10mm wrench to unbolt it. Replace it with the new one, be careful not to damage the o-ring or over tighten the bolt. Plug it back in, have the code cleared (AutoZone does it for free) and you're on your way!!
