fix this one and your the PA master

Okay guys and gals, I got a real goody for you. I've got a 91 PA with 112k since I bought it 6 mo. ago I've had nothing but problems. I can drive the thing for days and then in the middle of traffic she'll just die on me, abrupt loss of all power. I leave it alone for a day or two and she'll start right up until the next breakdown. I've taken it to 3 different mechanics and none can completly cure her. I have replaced the tps, cam sensor, crankshaft sensor, ignition module, coil pack, prom computer, and the alternator. I have no pulse or spark right now. I do have fuel pump pressure. and fully charged battery. I am finally lead to believe it is a problem in the wiring. Funny thing is she'll probably start up tomorrow only to break down next week! Is there anyone out there who thinks they know whats going on?

Wiring sounds like it could be the problem, but the question is, where do you start? Also, could it be the computer?

Sounds like a prob I had with my 87 Cad.....some of the same symptoms that you are having.....after much searching and replacing of parts it turned out to be one of my battery terminals. The terminal looked like it had heated up due to being loose and electricity arcing.

Could be a bat terminal like the previous guy said. Also, a sensor could be shorting out when it's hot. Try this get your car up to temp, and if it stalls, unplug 1 sensor at a time and try starting it. If you unpl;ug 1 and it starts, this is your problem. A shorted sensor can cause a no spark/no nuel condition.

Re: fix this one and your the PA master

I think CaseyC is on the right track with this problem. The key here is that you say you're losing ALL power. This probably rules out a computer cause; it's possible but not probable. You probably have either a bad connection somewhere at the battery or the battery itself is going bad. I know you say the battery is fully charged, but I once had a battery that read 13 volts until you put a load on it and then it went to zero. Also check the wire from the battery to the fuse blocks; a loose connection there will also kill everything on the car. I'd do an ohmmeter check on that wire to insure it's good and not broken anywhere.
