1997 gtp engine light

I recently had the engine light come on, so I took it to the garage and they told me left bank was running lean. Also said it could be a bad oxygen sensor. Before I go out and start replacing parts I need to know if anyone has any other ideas. The car also has a dark colored smoke that comes out when I first start it in the morning. While it was in the garage I had them put on a 3.4" pulley, would that have anything to do with it.

IIRC you had a secound post on this and said something about a injector was leaking....that would be the first place to start. That would cause a lean condition. You can also pull that plug that has to do with the injector and see how the plug is burning....if it is very white,it's time to replace the injector.
