thinking about buying a 87 rx7

I was searching autotrader and I came acrossed a 1987 rx7 for $1100. it only has 96k miles and body looks like its in decent condition. the guy also told me that it doesn't start and that it ran a couple of days ago and sat for 2 days and now it doesn't start. he thinks it could be a fuse but I don't know yet. the car is all stock and the bracket on moon roof is broke and the lift arms for the headlights are shot. there is no radio and it doesn't start is it worth $1100 or what should I offer him?

Its probably FLOODED!!! Offer him like 800, and then deflood it, and enjoy your new FC.

Link for deflooding:

Re: thinking about buying a 87 rx7

Before you buy any RX-7, check the compression. Do a search, there is plenty of info on that. Also, it could just need a coil (which are plentiful and cheap used). $1500 wil usually buy a good condition 87 n/a RX-7, so if he can't get it started, you might be better off to just wait for a sure thing.

IF its flooded, the compression will be close to 0, on all rotors, all faces. As far as the coils.. There is a leading and trailing coil. How did he test to make sure that its not firing? And is it the leading or trailing?

If its really flooded, you can tell right away when you try to start. The starter will run VERY fast...

Man, these are the FCs I love, cause I can usually scam them for CHEAP! Espcially because people pass on them. Then I scoop them up, for peanuts and sell them for $$! I got a $400 TII this way...
