For about a year now my 93 SC2 will click rapidly with loss of power when releasing the clutch or accelerating hard. The problem is progressively getting worse to where now I really have to baby the clutch and accelerate at slow speeds to avoid this unsettling noise. Rain or driving through large puddles makes this problem much worse for a short time which is why this problem seems so strange, otherwise I would just assume it was the clutch. Any ideas would be appreciated for this really takes the fun out of driving my car and I hate taking my car to the shop without a vague idea of what is wrong.

Re: Rapid clicking when accelerating/hard clutch release
mileage? any clue where exactly the noise is coming from? does this also happen in neutral? spin your tires alot? trouble shifting gears?

Mileage is about 150 on the engine 188 on the drivetrain. The engine seized at 35 and was replaced. I really don't spin the tires much at all. The noise sounds like it is coming from the to the right and in front of the drivers seat. It shifts fine with just a bit of resistance, but no grinding or anything, when shifting into 3rd and 5th.

It doesn't do it in neutral. The engine is strong, the loss of power I mentioned is a slipping somewhere, simular to the loss of power when a clutch slips. Rpms' rise but car doesn't accelerate as it should when this happens.

Re: Rapid clicking when accelerating/hard clutch release
i'm thinking most likey the clutch and/or pressure plate is at fault, but you may want to check the endplay of the crankshaft and transmission input shaft.
