Swapped out cluster Now getting Code 17 VSS?
I have a 91 hatchback and just switched out the gauge cluster with one from a 91 crx si. Everything works fine until i back off the gas in any gear and the check engine light comes on. The ecu shows code 17. I have checked the speedo cable in the tranny and speedo its self. Switched the old one back in and it works fine. Anyone have any ideas, I am new to the whole honda thing.

there could be something wrong inside of the cluter you cant see, like a short or one of the wire things scraped or cut.

Re: Swapped out cluster Now getting Code 17 VSS?
code 17 is the speed sencer, im gunna say its hooked up wrong, or something with the swap doesnt agree with the meshing, my 98 s 10 is the same way if i try to switch my cluster for another one, even if its the s 10 blazer, or another s 10 i belve

its definitely the cluster. either the cable isnt seating all the way into your cluster, or the components in the cluster that read the revolutions of the cable are damaged.
